How We Work

Full Service Design

Full service design involves many steps that require good communication, management skills and careful attention to detail, whether the project is one room or an entire house.  In the twenty five years that I’ve been designing, I’ve found that structuring the process into these five phases gives my clients a clear understanding of what to expect as their project progresses.

Phase 1: Intake

Discovery Call

When you call us with a design service inquiry, we use this opportunity to get to know a little about you, your needs and goals for your project.  Through a series of questions, we make sure that our service aligns with your expectations for your project.  Moving forward, we schedule an in home consultation.

In Home Consultation

We meet for a 1 1/2 – 2 hour consult and interior assessment.  We share concepts and provide actionable recommendations for your project.  We discuss a timeline, and the investment you are prepared to make in your project.  Within 3-5 days after our consultation, we send a Letter of Agreement outlining the scope of work and design fee, which may be an hourly or set fee.

By the end of our Intake phase, we have clear design intent and a working budget.  The Letter of Agreement is approved, and the first payment is made to begin your project.

Phase 2: Design Development and Presentation

Over the next several weeks, we use the information we’ve gathered through our intake process to map out a full design plan.  We further develop our early concepts through mood boards, room layouts, flat plant, sketches, elevations and color stories.  We source all materials, fixtures, fabrics and furnishings.  If applicable, we obtain estimates from our tradespeople for their work.  Throughout this phase we are in frequent contact with you for your input and often schedule showroom visits together.

Phase 3: Implementation

Once revisions are made, design is approved, and deposits are collected, we are off and running!  Purchase orders are created and tracked, items ordered are received and inspected at our warehouse.  We make frequent visits to the site to collaborate with you, the contractors and fabricators to ensure that we are all on the same page and that everything is running as smoothly as possible.

Phase 4: Installation and Reveal

O happy day – your personalized design is realized!  Window treatments are installed.  Furniture is delivered.  We’re filling in with all the little details that express your unique style and story.  And when we’re finished, it’s time for the exciting reveal!

Phase 5: Walk-Through and Photography

During or after the reveal, we schedule a walk-through to address any punch list items and make certain we’ve met or better yet, exceeded your expectations.  Final invoices are paid and we schedule a convenient time for us to return with our professional photographer to capture the essence of your new design.
